Welcome To The Department Of Respiratory Medicine
The Department of Respiratory Medicine deals with diseases related to the lungs and other organs associated with the function of breathing. Our department attracts patients with complex problems from all parts of the country and has a strong clinical base with emphasis on bedside teaching and learning. The laboratory support is provided by a state-of-the art pulmonary function, exercise physiology and sleep labs.
The department also has the backing of full-fledged bronchoscopy and
medical thoracoscopy services. Multidisciplinary teams with the collaborating departments exist for Interstitial lung disease, Thoracic oncology & Radiology. We have the backing of a good thoracic surgery service from the department of cardiothoracic-vascular surgery.

The Department of Respiratory Medicine
The courses run by the Department of Respiratory Medicine are the 3 year M.D (Respiratory Medicine) and the BSc course in Respiratory therapy. Students are trained in managing lung related disorders, in the outpatient and in patient settings and also in airway and pleural based procedures. Post graduate students are also involved in research activities and present their work at regional and national conferences.
